From memories of a Roman holiday, to street scenes in Mumbai, to the mod scene of London in the 1960’s, few 2-wheeled vehicles invoke emotions like a Vespa. First manufactured in 1946 by the Piaggio Corporation, the initial design was based on the American Cushman scooters used by United States Paratroopers and Marines during World War II. Over the past 60 years, the “wasp” has evolved into one of the most successful vehicles in history. That commitment to excellence continues today with a full range of clean burning 4 stroke engines, automatic transmissions, safe and efficient disc brake systems, stylish comfort, and classic design to fit the lives of people all over the world; while getting 60+ miles per gallon.

Vespa PX 150
Some things are better left (mostly) unchanged. We feel that is definitely the case with the Vespa PX150 the true classic that over 30 years in production became the most popular scooter of all time. Nothing else feels or sounds like the PX with its poppy and powerful 2-stroke single cylinder engine, 4 speed manual transmission and don’t forget about the ultra cool spare tire under the side cowl; but this is also a modern Piaggio engineered machine with an automatic oil pump and electric starter. Discontinued in 2005 after some states started putting limitations on the 2- stroke, there are only a few new models left for sale in the country, several of which are still available from Chispa. |

Vespa Vintage Series
After the first few years, Vespa began to symbolize Europe's post-war reconstruction. Throughout decades, it became an emblem of Italian style and design worldwide. Celebrating this history are the LXV and GTV of the modern era. The LXV, which was developed on the base of the LX 150, is a tribute to the Vespas of the 60’s, while the GTV, which has the GTS 250 platform, is a nod to the original bikes of the 40’s and 50’s. The classic looks of the past with the comfort and technology of today including such amenities as chrome “naked” handlebars and leather saddles make these scooters a true luxury. |

Chassis
What makes a Vespa different? That would be the Monocoque steel chassis that is the body of each model. From the French word for “single shell” this is the design innovation that made the scooters lightweight and lead to the high fuel economy of scooters. It also provides the protection for the motors that keeps them on the road for decades. |
